Slip cast earthenware hens with ceramic decal, printed decoration of wild flower drawings. Each one is unique. They are based on traditional Scottish ‘wally dugs’ (china dogs) which were set on the mantelpiece in pairs for good luck. Available to order in different colours.

A plaster mould was made of the first hen, which was modelled from clay. Slip - liquid clay - is poured into the mould, and when it is leather hard removed and finished. Coloured slips are painted on and then the hen is fired. It is glazed with transparent glaze and fired again. Ceramic decals - transfers – are applied and it is fired again.
