Designed & Made works with the most talented designers and makers from the North of England by nurturing, representing and promoting their work in new and imaginative ways.

Within our extensive networks we create interesting collaborations and innovative partnerships to produce new commissions, sales of work and exhibitions.

We are not overly concerned with the categorisation of creative practice, it may be described as craft, design or applied art; practitioners may be described as artists working with craft skills or crafts people working in the arts . What really matters to us is that all work is fresh or fresh interpretations of traditional skills. That it is new/intelligent/stylish and that it pushes at the boundaries of mediums, concepts or narrative. To attain this aspiration we work within a set of guiding principles.

Our guiding principles are: excellence in workmanship and in the use of materials; sustainability; the celebration of the diversity in the design, contemporary applied arts and craft sector; support for innovation and experimentation and the development of new audiences for this work.
